Honours have been shared in the opening games of the 2022 Rugby League Samoa Island of Origin series, with the Savai’i Blues winning the Women’s clash, whilst the Upolou Maroons claimed the Men’s.
Played at ACP Marist Stadium in Lotopa, the Savai’i Blues won the inaugural Women’s Island of Origin match 20 – 11.
Whilst in the opening game of the Men’s series, the Upolou Maroons recorded a strong 33 – 12 victory.
2022 is the third time the Island of Origin series has been played in Samoa, with the Savai’i Blues currently holding the shield.
